WORSHIP IN SONG: LET THERE BE PRAISE  (by Dick & Mel Tunney)

Chorus: Let there be praise, let there be joy in our hearts.  Sing to the Lord, give Him the glory.

Let there be praise, let there be joy in our hearts.  For evermore let His love fill the air,

and let  there be praise.

He inhabits the praise of His  people, and dwells deep within.  The peace that He gives none can equal;

His love, it knows no end.  So lift your voices; with gladness sing.

Proclaim through all the earth that Jesus Christ is King! (chorus)

When the Spirit of God is within us, we will overcome. In our weakness His strength will defend us

when His praise is on our tongue. So lift your voices; with gladness sing.

Proclaim through all the earth that Jesus Christ is King! (chorus)  (1985 Laurel Press)

STRONG TOWER   (by Peter Furler, Steve Taylor)

Strong and mighty, strong to save us, like a fortress never failing.

Strong in battle, strong in kindness, when we stray, Lord, You’re strong to find us.

When the winds come hard against us you are steadfast you are true.

When the ground beneath us trembles, Your foundation never moves.

Refrain: Strong Tower High and Glorious, Strong Tower Mighty in Love, Our Refuge, Our Defender,

Strong Tower, Lord above.

Strong to lead us through the shadows, strong to carry all our sorrow.  When the enemy surrounds us,

closing in as darkness falls.  Though his armies rage against us, they can never scale these walls.  Refrain:

You are my shelter, my shield, You are the home I could never deserve.

Here I will serve, ever under Your gaze, here I will serve, ever singing Your praise.  Refrain:

Strong Tower; Lord above.  Strong Tower; Lord above.  (2004 Ariose Music)

EVERLASTING GOD (by Brenton Brown & Ken Riley)

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord.

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord.

Our God, You reign forever.  Our Hope, our strong Deliv’rer You are the everlasting God, the everlasting God. You do not faint, You won’t grow weary You’re the defender of the weak, You comfort those in need.

You lift us up on wings like eagles.  (repeat).

Our God, You reign forever.  Our Hope, our strong Deliv’rer.

You are the everlasting God, the everlasting God.  You do not faint, You won’t grow weary

You’re the defender of the weak, You comfort those in need.  You lift us up on wings like eagles.

You are the everlasting God, the everlasting God.  You do not faint, You won’t grow weary

You’re the defender of the weak, You comfort those in need.  You lift us up on wings like eagles.

You do not faint, You won’t grow weary You’re the defender of the weak, You comfort those in need.

You lift us up on wings like eagles.  (Copyright 2005 Thankyou Music)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION:

Holy and awesome God, we stand in your presence filled with regret for our many sins and failings.

Though there is greatness in us, and a deep longing for goodness, we have often denied our better selves

and refused to hear your voice.  Calling us to rise to the full height of our humanity for there is weakness in us

as well as strength.  At times we choose to walk in darkness, our vision obscured we do not care to look within, and we are unwilling to look beyond at those who need our help.  O God, we are too weak to walk unaided.

Be with us as a strong and wise friend, and teach us to walk by the light of your truth.  Amen.

MORE LOVE, MORE POWER (by Jude Del Hierro)

More love, more power, more of You in my life; More love, more power, more of You in my life.

And I will worship You with all of my heart, and I will worship You with all of my mind;

And I will worship You with all of my strength, You are my Lord, You are my Lord, You are my Lord.

LET US ADORE (by Julius Chajes)

Let us adore the ever living God and render praise unto Him who spread out the heavens

and established the earth, and whose glory is revealed in the heavens above, and whose greatness

is manifest throughout all the earth.  He is our God. There is none else.  (1952 Transcontinental Music Pub.)

MY JESUS, I LOVE THEE (By Wm. Featherstone)

My Jesus I love thee I know thou art mine; for thee all the folly of sin I resign.

My gracious Redeemer my Savior art thou; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus 'tis now.

I love thee because thou hast first loved me, and purchased my pardon on Calvary's tree;

I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight, I'll ever adore thee in heaven so bright;

I'll sing with the glittering crown on my brow; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.  (Public Domain)

BRINGING OUR NEEDS TO GOD (Prayers of the People)

PRAYER RESPONSE:  NEAR TO THE HEART OF GOD (by C.B. McAfee)

There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God;

a place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.

(refrain)  O Jesus, blest Redeemer, sent from the heart of God,

hold us who wait before thee near to the heart of God.  (Public Domain)

CLOSING HYMN 547  O CHURCH OF GOD, UNITED    (Frederick Morley)

O church of God, united to serve one common Lord, proclaim to all one message, with hearts in glad accord.  Christ ever goes before us. We follow day by day with strong and eager footsteps along the upward way.

From every land and nation the ordered ranks appear; to serve one valiant leader they come from far and near.  They chant their one confession, they praise one living Lord, and place their sure dependence upon his saving word.

Though creeds and tongues may differ, they speak O Christ, of thee; and in thy loving spirit we shall one people be.  Lord, may our faithful service and singleness of aim proclaim to all the power of thy redeeming name.

May thy great prayer be answered that we may all be one, close bound, by love united in thee, God’s blessed Son: to bring a single witness, to make the pathway bright, that souls which grope in darkness may find the one true light.    (1954 They Hymn Society of America)
