WORSHIP IN SONG:  HEAR OUR PRAISES   (by Reuben Morgan)

May our homes be filled with dancing, may our streets be filled with joy;

May injustice bow to Jesus as the people turn to pray.

Chorus:  From the mountain to the valley, hear our praises rise to You;

From the heavens to the nations, hear our singing fill the air.

May a light shine in the darkness, as we walk before the cross;

May Your glory fill the whole earth as the water o’er the seas.    Chorus

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! (Repeat 2 x’s)   Chorus (1998 Integrity Hosanna Music)

BEAUTIFUL ONE  (by Tim Hughes)

Wonderful, so wonderful is Your unfailing love, Your cross has spoken mercy over me.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, No heart could fully know How glorious, how beautiful You are.

Chorus: Beautiful One I love, Beautiful One I adore, Beautiful One my soul must sing.

Powerful, so powerful, your glory fills the skies Your mighty works displayed for all to see.

The beauty of Your majesty awakes my heart to sing: How marvelous, how wonderful You are.   Chorus – 2 x’s

You opened my eyes to Your wonders anew, You captured my heart with this love

cause nothing on earth is as beautiful as You (repeat)    (Chorus)

My soul, my soul must sing.

My soul, my soul must sing.

My soul, my soul must sing.

Beautiful One. (Repeat)      (Chorus – 2x’s)       (1992 Thankyou Music)

GOD OF THE AGES  (By Daniel C. Roberts)

God of the ages, whose almighty hand leads forth in beauty all the starry band

of shining worlds in splendor through the skies, our grateful songs before thy throne arise.

Thy love divine hath led us in the past; in this free land with thee our lot is cast;

be thou our ruler, guardian, guide, and stay, thy Word our law, thy paths our chosen way.

From war's alarms, from deadly pestilence, be thy strong arm our ever sure defense;

thy true religion in our hearts increase; thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.

Refresh thy people on their toilsome way; lead us from night to never ending day;

fill all our lives with love and grace divine, and glory, laud, and praise be ever thine.  (Public Domain)

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION: God of loving welcome, we admit that we are not always as kind and accepting as Christ calls us to be.  We yearn to extend the hand of friendship, but sometimes shy away.

We cry for peace on earth but sometimes wage war in our own cruel ways. We seek community and love,

but then offer only small parts of ourselves. Where we are afraid, strengthen us to bravely reach out to others. Where we are angry, love us that we may be kind and forgiving. Where we are sad, comfort us that we may seek new joy. Where we are in doubt, encourage us with your steadfast faithfulness. Forgive us when we are not the welcoming disciples you yearn for here on earth. Guide us to walk in your ways,  that we may truly love and accept others, even as we have been loved  and accepted by you. AMEN.

THESE THINGS ARE TRUE OF YOU (by Tommy Walker)

Unshakable, immovable, faithful and true; Full of wisdom, strength and beauty: These things are true of You.  Fearless, courageous, righteousness shines thru in all You do; Yet You’re so humble, You laid down Your life: These things are true of You.

Chorus:  And as I turn my face to You, oh Lord, I ask and pray, by the power of Your love and grace,

make these things true of me, too.  Make these things true of me, too.

Patient, compassionate, love flows thru You; You never give up on the hopeless ones: these things are true of You.  Holy and blameless, You stand up for justice and truth; Yet You love mercy and forgiveness:

These things are true of You.  (1997 Doulos Pub)

HAVE MERCY ON ME  (By Gerrit Gustafson)

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love, according to Your great compassion

blot out my transgression.  Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love,

wash away my iniquity, cleanse me from my sin.

Chorus:  I will be whiter than snow, I will be whiter than snow; I will be whiter than snow,

I will be whiter than snow.      (repeat beginning)

By the blood I am whiter than snow.  I am made whiter than snow; By the blood I am whiter than snow.

I am made whiter than snow.    (1987 Integrity's Hosanna! Music)

AMERICA  (by Samuel F. Smith)  Verses 1, 3 & 4

My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;

land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims' pride, from every mountainside let freedom ring!

Let music swell the breeze, and ring from all the trees sweet freedom's song;

let mortal tongues awake; let all that breathe partake; let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.

Our fathers' God, to thee, author of liberty, to thee we sing; long may our land be bright

with freedom's holy light; protect us by thy might, great God our King.   (Public Domain)

PRAYER RESPONSE: PERFECT PEACE (by David Winnes)

You will keep those in perfect peace, whose minds are set on You.  You will keep those in perfect peace,

whose minds are set on You.  Because we trust in You, Oh Lord, because we trust in You.

You will keep those in perfect peace, whose minds are set on You.  (1978 His Eye Music)

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION - The congregation is invited to receive Communion at the              Communion rails.  Come forward when you are ready, and receive the Communion elements with joy.

These symbols represent the Body and Blood of Jesus offered for our forgiveness and new life.  The invitation to receive comes from Jesus himself, and is not based on membership in this or any other Church.

While you are waiting for your place at the Communion rail, take advantage of this quiet time to meditate,

and offer your personal prayer and praise to God.

(If you are unable to come forward, let an usher know, and the Elements will be brought to you).

For those members with grape juice allergies, whole grapes are available.

CLOSING HYMN 492 PRAYER IS THE SOUL'S SINCERE DESIRE   (Charles Wesley)

Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, un-uttered or expressed, the motion of a hidden fire that trembles in the breast.

Prayer is the burden of a sigh, the falling of a tear, the upward glancing of an eye, when none but God is near.

Prayer is the simplest form of speech that infant lips can try;

prayer the sublimest strains that reach the majesty on high.

Prayer is the contrite sinners' voice, returning from their way,

while angels in their songs rejoice and cry, "Behold, they pray!"

Prayer is the Christians' vital breath, the Christians' native air;

their watchword at the gates of death; they enter heaven with prayer.

O Thou, by whom we come to God, the Life, the Truth, the Way:

the path of prayer thyself hast trod; Lord, teach us how to pray!    (Public Domain)
