Church and Society
The Church and Society Committee seeks to connect our faith with our actions. Simply stated, the committe focuses on what we do about what we believe. The purpose of Church and Society Committee is relate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the members of the church and to the persons and structures of the communities and world in which we live as we seek to bring the whold of human life, activities, possesssions, use of resources, and community and world relationships into conformity with teachings of Jesus Christ and the will of God. It will show the members of the church and the society that the reconciliation that God effected through Christ involves personal, social, and civic righteousness.
The Committee will:
1. Implement plans and programs that challenge the members of the Moorestown First United Methodist Church to work through the church, ecumenical channels and society toward personal, social and civic righteousness;
2. Seek the implementation of the Social Principles and the policy statements of the General Copnference and Greater New Jersey Annual Conference on Christian social concerns;
3. Act as a channnel between the UMC General Board of Church and Society, the Greater NJ Annual Conference Board of Church and Society, and the local church for resources in areas of such such concerns;
4. Analyze issues that confront persons, communities, nations, and the world;
5. Encourage Christian lines of action that assist humankind to move toward a world where peace and justice are achieved.
