Prayer Room

What's the prayer room?
Pastor Steve calls the FUMC Prayer Room "the boiler room of the church." It's where people, one by one, can sit in the Presence of the Lord, experience His incredible love and mercy, and be filled with His Holy Fire. They can intercede for their loved ones and pray for the needs of the church and its family.

What's in the prayer room?
There are stations set up all around the room. Each one has suggestions for prayer. For instance, there's a kneeling bench with the book Love Letters from God on its shelf to remind you that no matter what you've done or how you feel, you are God's precious child. There's a "Dear Abba" poster where you can write a note to your Father in Heaven.

There's a box with the prayer requests from the weekend services. The folks who go to the room pray for each request, leaving a book mark to show the next pray-er where to begin. Some people write prayers in a book. When the prayer is answered, they make note of it for everyone to see.

There's a map of the area to pray for neighborhoods, schools, and municipal governments. There are hymnals and praise music, devotionals, and poems. Some pray-ers write poems or paint pictures while they are in the room. It's impossible to go through all the stations in an hour. But that leaves new things to do the next time you come to the room.

You can do what you like in the room. You're alone with the Lord for the hour you reserve. Many people just let the Holy Spirit lead them and surprise them. What an amazing God we serve!
