Food Collection Efforts Expanded

We thank everyone who has continued to support FUMC’s food bank collection efforts by using the collection boxes at the front (Music Ministry) and rear (Pleasant Valley) entrances of the church. Significant amounts of non-perishable foods have been collected for distribution at nearby church food banks, including First Baptist, St. Matthews Lutheran, Bethel AME, and Masonville UMC.

Collections are now being expanded to include baby diapers and men’s underwear. Diapers will be directed to needy families in Trenton through the Maker’s Place program headed by United Methodist Minister Rev. Michael Reed. Maker’s Place individually interviews each recipient family to insure the diapers are meeting the need appropriately and effectively. Men’s underwear (packaged briefs or new socks) will be distributed to homeless and impoverished men in Camden through our ministry – Eyes of Our Heart, which provides a breakfast and clothing/personal care items to needy individuals. Eyes of Our Heart is completely supported by FUMC and involves more than a dozen members monthly, led by Judi Angelow.

All donations can be put in the boxes outside the entrances of the church on either the Camden Avenue side or the Pleasant Valley side.Thank you for your continued support with gifts of NON-PERISHABLE food items and now disposable diapers or men’s packaged underwear and socks. Please know your gifts will meet some very significant needs. God bless you as you bless his children.

Food Pantry Shelf

Don’t let the cupboard become bare.  Drop off your contributions to the Food Bank collection area.

In the Narthex entrance closest to the Pleasant Valley entrance, there is a bank of cabinets.  Place your donations in the cabinet designated for the Food Bank.  During the COVID-19 crisis, a box for food pantry items is placed at the Camden Ave entrance.  Items are distributed daily.

Food donations are delivered to the local food pantries.  The Bethel AME Church regularly serves 70 families.

Donations of paper products as well as canned foods and cereals are most welcome.
